Program duration: July 5 - July 27, 2023
Class Times:  8:30 am to 3:35 pm
Location: Adult High School - 300 Rochester St, Ottawa, ON K1R 7N4

About this program:

This summer, the OCDSB Continuing Education department, will be offering a non-credit opportunity for OCDSB High School Students in ELD and ESL classes based on their recent arrival in Canada. Those students who can’t access other summer learning opportunities because of language level or age are the priority.

Eligible students will have the opportunity to enrich their education by developing oral proficiency, reading proficiency, and basic numeracy skills. This will be delivered through experiential education and authentic, contextualized learning.

Priority will be given to students in ELDAO and ELDBO classes in September 2023, as well as those who have arrived in Canada within the last school year.

The program will support students in the “orientation to student life” component of the STEP framework. There will be an increased emphasis on physical literacy.

Feedback will be offered to students, parents and teachers in the form of a progress report.

We hope that you and your Multicultural Liaison Officer (MLO) will be able to share this message with students and their parents/families.

IMPORTANT: Students are encouraged to attend the full summer school session. Vacations and holidays should not be taken for the duration of the course.
