OCDSB Celebrates Pride Month

Throughout the month of June, the OCDSB has been celebrating Pride Month. Pride Month is an opportunity for all to celebrate diversity while learning about the contributions, achievements, histories of 2SLGBTQ+ individuals and communities. This month, schools across the District have flown the OCDSB Pride flag, participated in learning activities, and worked on collaborative showcases and artwork.

Leading up to Pride Month, students of the OCDSB 2021-2022 2SLGBTQ+ Voices: Pathways to Interdependence Program presented the 17th annual Rainbow Youth Forum in May. This virtual event saw more than 100 participants that included 2SLGBTQ+ OCDSB students, parents and guardians, OCDSB staff, and community organization representatives. Participants chose from a variety of sessions that included Drag Workshop, Supporting 2SLGBTQ+ Youth, Queer Rights, Trans Resources, and Gender at OCDSB. It was a great opportunity to enhance knowledge and awareness about equity and diversity issues and supports within the OCDSB.

Here’s a look at some of the learning and celebrations that took place in our schools in celebration of Pride Month:
