Focus on Youth

Focus on Youth is a partnership between the Ontario government, school boards, and local community agencies. With funding provided by the Ministry of Education, the Focus on Youth Program provides summer programming for children in identified high needs neighbourhoods; job opportunities and leadership activities for up to 150 youth; and free school space for community-based programs that keep young people safe and active.
In addition to providing free space for non-profit groups, the OCDSB also hires two students (at minimum) to help enhance each program. The students take part in two days of leadership and pre-employment training before working with the non-profit groups. Students can also be hired by the OCDSB to help prepare schools for the upcoming school year. Student leaders have the opportunity to be mentored and gain valuable leadership experience.
See the tabs below for more information about program goals, student qualifications, important information for community agencies and key dates.
