English as a Second Language/Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada

About LINC and ESL:
The Continuing Education Department offers English as a Second Language (ESL) classes, and Language Instruction to Newcomers to Canada (LINC) classes for adults in Ottawa. Classes are offered from beginner to advanced levels and help develop skills in reading, writing, grammar, listening, speaking, pronunciation, and more. We offer online and in-person LINC classes with free childcare, as well as online and in-person ESL classes.

Registration:

Current students:  Talk to your teacher if you want to change your class

New students: Fill out the Registration Form.

  • If you cannot fill out the form - call 613 239-2737 and we will help you.
Language Assessment for Classes:To register for classes, youmusthave an up-to-date language assessment or have attended LINC or ESL classes in the past 2 years. If you do not have a current language assessment, please call the YMCA/YWCA Language Assessment and Referral Centre.
