2022 Summer School Programs


Programs are offered for students currently in grades 6-8, grades and 9-12, as well as for adult learners working towards their high school diploma. Plans for Summer School 2022 are being made for a return to in-person summer learning, as well as for continued virtual options. In-person programming will run contingent on public health directives but may change prior to program start.

Grade 6 - 8 Programs:

SUMMER SCHOOL GRADES 6, 7, 8 (In-Person and Virtual Options)

Program duration: July 7 - July 29, 2022

Registration dates: May 2 - June 17, 2022 

Two non credit programs are available for OCDSB students currently enrolled in Grades 6-8. These programs are designed to assist students as they prepare for the transition to higher grade levels. Programs offered are: 

  • Review and Reinforcement Program for Grades 6-8
  • Getting Ready for Grade 9. 

Some reach ahead credit courses are also available to Grade 8 students entering Grade 9 in the 2022-2023 school year. For more information on all of  these programs, please visit the Summer School 6, 7, 8 page.


Grade 9-12 Programs: 

REACH AHEAD CREDIT PROGRAM (In-Person and Virtual Options)

Program duration: July 6 - July 28, 2022

Registration dates: April 4 at 12:00 pm - June 28, 2022 by 4:00 pm

A variety of Grade 9-12 credit courses are available for students who wish to acquire an extra credit towards their diploma, or who successfully completed a course but want to upgrade their mark. In-person courses are available, as well as virtual courses that are offered through a combination of synchronous and asynchronous online instruction. eLEARNING CREDIT PROGRAM (Asynchronous)

Program duration: July 5 - August 3, 2022

Registration dates: April 4 - June 28, 2022 by 4:00 pm

The eLearning courses are delivered asynchronously and meet the mandatory eLearning graduation requirement.  Each course is facilitated by a teacher who structures the delivery of the course to encourage collaboration and enable effective feedback. There are specific tasks and/or assessments due each day with expectations of completing one lesson per day (20 lessons in total). Students will read, work independently or as a member of a group, complete assignments and interact with their teacher and classmates from July 5 to August 3, 2022. Instead of being in the same place at the same time they meet in Our Virtual Learning Environment (VLE) at a time of their choosing each day.  For more information please visit the Summer eLearning page.  


CREDIT RECOVERY AND ACADEMIC UPGRADING (In-Person and Some Virtual Options)

Program duration: July 6 - July 28, 2022

Registration dates: April 4 at 12:00 pm - June 28, 2022 by 4:00 pm 

The Credit Recovery and Academic Upgrading program is designed for OCDSB students who have completed a course within the school year or semester, but need some additional assistance to meet curriculum expectations to a passing level. Credit Recovery and Academic Upgrading opportunities are available for OCDSB students recommended to the program by their day school. CO-OPERATIVE EDUCATION PROGRAM (In-Person and Virtual Placement Options)

Program duration:

1 Credit: July 5 - July 27, 2022
2 Credit: July 5 - August 19, 2022
Registration dates: April 4 at 12:00 pm - May 20, 2022 by 4:0 pm

The Co-operative Education Summer Program offers students in Grades 11 and 12 the opportunity to gain valuable work experience in the workplace through in-person or virtual placements. In addition, students have the opportunity to participate in a purely virtual co-op experience that involves mentors, virtual guest speakers, a digital classroom and other virtual learning experiences. STUDENTS ACCELERATING IN LITERACY PROGRAM (In-Person)

Program duration: July 6 - July 28, 2022 

Registration: May 2 - June 28, 2022 by 4:00 pm

The Students Accelerating in Literacy (SAIL) Program is a non-credit credit opportunity for OCDSB High School Students in ELD and ESL classes based on time of arrival in Canada. Eligible students will have the opportunity to enrich their education by developing oral proficiency, reading proficiency, and basic numeracy skills. Indigenous Summer Learning Program

INDIGENOUS SUMMER LEARNING PROGRAM (In-Person)

Program duration: July 6 - August 5, 2022

Registration dates: April 4 at 12:00 pm - June 28, 2022 by 4:00 pm

In partnership with  the OCDSB Indigenous Education team, Continuing Education will be offering a learning opportunity for Indigenous OCDSB students currently in Grade 8-12.   Students can earn an academic credit while learning from Indigenous teachers, Elders and Traditional Knowledge Holders. Sankofa Summer Academy for Black Youth

SANKOFA SUMMER ACADEMY FOR BLACK YOUTH (In-Person)

Program duration:July 6 - July 28, 2022

Registration dates: April 4 at 12:00 pm - June 28, 2022 by 4:00 pm

The OCDSB Continuing Education department, in partnership with the Sankofa Centre of Excellence will be offering a  reach ahead credit opportunity for African, Black and Caribbean OCDSB students. 2SLGBTQ+ Voices: Building Bridges Program

2SLGBTQ+ VOICES: BUILDING BRIDGES PROGRAM (In-Person)

Program duration: July 6 - August 5, 2022

Registration dates: April 4 at 12:00 pm - June 28, 2022 by 4:00 pm

Summer School Virtual Tutoring Program

SUMMER SCHOOL VIRTUAL TUTORING PROGRAM FOR STUDENTS IN GRADE 7-12 (In-Person)

Program Duration: July 6th to July 28th, 2022

The Summer School Virtual Tutoring Program is FREE for OCDSB students in Grade 7-12 looking to achieve greater success at summer school. This virtual program provides students with a supervised opportunity to complete, review, practice and receive support in a range of subject areas. International Language Classes & Camps (JK-Grade 8)

FRENCH AND SPANISH SUMMER CAMPS (In-Person)

Program duration: July 4 - July 30, 2022

Registration: July 4 - July 29, 2022

These fun-filled relaxed camps for children in Junior Kindergarten to Grade 8 allow children to immerse themselves into the French or Spanish languages. Previous exposure to the language is NOT required. A variety of indoor/outdoor activities (including Field Trips) are coordinated by French or Spanish speaking counselors. INTERNATIONAL LANGUAGE CLASSES (In-Person and Online Options)

Program duration: July 4 - July 29, 2022

Registration: Ongoing throughout the summer, register by June 17, 2021 to attend the full program

Learn a new language or maintain the language of your home or heritage. The OCDSB is offering a variety of virtual and in-person  international language classes for JK to Grade 8 students.
