Tiny Teachers Wanted: Seeking Volunteers for Roots of Empathy Program

Do you have a baby who will be 2-4 months old on October 1st, 2025? If so, your little one could become a "Tiny Teacher" in the OCDSB’s Roots of Empathy program!
We're looking for volunteers to help us bring this program to schools across the District, offering students a unique opportunity to learn about themselves and each other.
The Roots of Empathy program is an evidence-based program that fosters empathy and emotional literacy in children. A baby and their parent/caregiver make 9 visits to their local school over the school year.
With the guidance of an instructor, students observe the baby's development and emotional responses. This helps children to recognize feelings in themselves and their classmates, allowing them to understand others better and make friends. Read more in the parent information booklet.
This opportunity is open to OCDSB parents/caregivers, staff and members of the public.
If you're interested in volunteering yourself and your baby for this rewarding experience, please contact Marianne Harvey (mharvey@rootsofempathy.org) for more information.
