Dear Families, 

I recently had the pleasure of resuming my weekly school visits, and the experience has been a testament to the incredible teaching and learning environments we have system-wide. My most recent trips to Steve MacLean Public School and Earl of March Secondary School were particularly inspiring.

These visits highlighted an integration of innovative and emerging technologies, engaging both students and staff in authentic, real-world tasks. The energy and excitement were palpable as I saw firsthand how our educators are embracing new tools to create dynamic, hands-on learning experiences.

This commitment to forward-thinking education ensures that our students are not just learning from a textbook—they're building the skills they need for the future. The work happening in our schools demonstrates the dedication of our staff and the curiosity of our students. 

Last week, we celebrated International Information Technology Professional Day. I want to thank all the dedicated Business and Learning Technologies (B<) staff who work so hard every day to ensure our staff and students have a seamless and innovative technological experience.

• September 27th (10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.): In-Person Information Session on Individualized Education Plans.
• Family Connection Day on September 27th has been postponed.
• October 9th (7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.): OCDSB Speaker Series - Navigating Post-Secondary Education. 
• October 23rd (5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.): We invite families in Ottawa's downtown area for an informative and engaging in-person Community Connection event.
• November 4th and 6th (7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.): Arts Canterbury Open Houses (In-person)
• Professional Activity (PA) Day: September 29th – No school for elementary and secondary students.
• September 30th is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation (Orange Shirt Day).
• Starred Dates: October 2nd is Yom Kippur (commences at sundown on October 1st) and Dussehra (Vijayadashami).
