Interim Executive Officer of Technological Support Services
Sandy Owens is the Interim Executive Officer, Technological Services. She offers strategic leadership and guidance to a high-performing team within the District's Business and Learning Technologies Department. Her responsibilities include technology investment planning, cybersecurity, and digital information management and transformation, with a strong emphasis on client service excellence. Additionally, she spearheads innovative system-level changes, aligning with the District strategic plan.
With 34 years of experience in public education, Sandy has held diverse roles in both schools and at the District level. Most recently, as General Manager of Business and Learning Technologies, she led system-wide projects and initiatives, including consultations for the District’s Technology plan, “Transforming How We Learn and Work.” Sandy is a passionate advocate for technology as a learning accelerator and has worked extensively with assistive technology, ensuring special education students have the tools necessary to reach their full potential.
Sandy is a mentor for the Women in IT Leadership initiative which offers a supportive and empowering environment where aspiring female IT leaders in Ontario School Boards gain the knowledge, skills, confidence, and networks necessary to excel in leadership roles and drive positive change within the education sector. She is also currently sitting as a member of the ECNO (Educational Collaborative Network of Ontario) Advisory Committee.
