OCDSB's Sandy Owens Champions Women in Education Technology Leadership

Sandy Owens, General Manager, Business and Learning Technologies, OCDSB

From our classrooms to our administrative offices, the OCDSB is committed to nurturing leadership and innovation among its staff, with an impact that reaches far into the wider community. Sandy Owens, the General Manager of Business and Learning Technologies, recently showcased this commitment on a provincial stage, joining a conversation about the future of women in the field of Information Technology (IT).

Sandy participated in a panel discussion at the Educational Collaborative Network of Ontario (ECNO) Conference in June. This annual event brings together hundreds of education and technology professionals from across the province.

The panel, featuring women in IT leadership roles at various Ontario school boards, focused on "Inspiring and Empowering the Next Generation: Female IT Networking and STEM Education Partnerships."

The discussion unveiled an exciting Women in Leadership Coaching Program, which aims to empower aspiring IT leaders in Ontario school boards, providing them with the knowledge, skills and confidence to excel in leadership roles. This program offers personalized coaching from experienced acIT leaders like Sandy, empowering women to drive positive change within the education sector.

“I am excited about the new Women in Leadership Coaching Program – it's exactly what's needed to help empower the next generation of female leaders in IT.”
