New AI Resources for Students

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) is pleased to announce that students in Grades 9-12 will now have access to Gemini and NotebookLM as approved AI tools. These resources are designed to serve as "thinking partners" to help students with achieving their academic goals. The use of these tools is guided by a commitment to prioritizing student learning, critical thinking, and ethical responsibility.
Students are expected to use these tools transparently and responsibly. This includes never inputting personal information into any AI tool and understanding the limitations of AI, such as potential inaccuracies or biases. The guidelines stress that any work submitted must be primarily the product of the student's own effort and thinking. This initiative is part of the OCDSB's broader focus on providing digital tools, resources and technologies that empower effective, responsive and equitable learning experiences.
